When you are overwhelmed by conflicting thoughts and confused about what you are experiencing, it helps to talk to someone. Your counselor at Bellefaire JCB can help you make sense of all these feelings and help you move forward.
Personal attention:
- Free counseling.
- Personal visits in your home or in our office, visit during pregnancy and after delivery.
- Connecting you and your family with resources.
- A short-term financial assistance program.
- Pre-natal labor and delivery costs may be paid.
- Short term foster care for your child while you make your decision.
If you choose to parent:
We help you:
- Connect with early childhood resources.
- With referrals for medical assistance such as Healthy Start.
- Link with community resources such as housing, education, and financial assistance.
- Identify supports and resources that can assist you in parenting.
If you choose adoption:
We offer you:
- The opportunity to select an adoptive family for your child.
- The opportunity to review profiles of our waiting adoptive families including pictures and letters.
- The option of meeting the adoptive family
- The option of meeting and maintaining lifelong contacts between you and the adoptive family.
- Ongoing support to help you deal with the many emotions that you may feel now and in the future.
Support for you:
Counseling
All counseling and services are provided at no charge to you, whether or not you choose adoption.
Medical referrals
We will refer you to a clinic, obstetrician, and hospital.
Legal
All legal documents and forms will be reviewed with you before you make your final decision. We encourage you to review them with an attorney. Consultation with an attorney is available at no cost to you.
Choosing a family for your child
We do a complete assessment and homestudy of the adoptive family. All of the family's medical, social, and financial information is thoroughly evaluated.
Your level of involvement in selecting a family is up to you. You may wish to choose the family who will raise your child or not; it's your decision.
Expectant Fathers
We understand that considering adoption may feel overwhelming. Bellefaire JCB staff is committed to providing you with information and support to make an informed decision for you and your child.
We will answer your questions with respect and encourage you to become a part of the decision making process. Bellefaire JCB provides counseling to Birth Fathers at no cost.
