A New Life. A Lifelong Journey.
Infant adoption begins a lifelong journey for the adoptive family, the birth parents, and a baby. The Adoption Center at Bellefaire JCB conducts the adoption of infants whose birth parents have contacted us directly or have been referred to us by other sources. We also coordinate infant placements through an international network of agencies.
We provide prospective adoptive parents with individualized services to prepare, educate, and support them throughout the adoption process. Likewise, we offer birth parents ongoing counsel and preparation for a safe and legal adoption plan.
Every adoption is unique.
Designing a successful adoption plan requires sensitive regard for the needs and best interests of the adoptive parents, the birth parents, and — above all — the child. Our certified adoption assessors work closely with all parties to determine a mutually satisfying arrangement.
In values-based open adoption:
- Birth parents select the adoptive parents
- The families have face-to-face contact
- Both families exchange fully identifying information
- Both families establish a mutual, ongoing relationship
The Adoption Center at Bellefaire JCB also coordinates semi-open adoption, which may or may not involve identifying information and/or ongoing face-to-face contact. Our commitment to safe and legal adoption also applies to cases in which birth parents desire no contact with the adoptive family.
How long does infant adoption take?
Adopting an infant can take from a few months to several years. The timeframe can vary according to many factors, including the child's background circumstances, his or her ethnic and/or social characteristics, and whether you are open to adopting a baby with special needs.
How much does it cost?
Fees related to Bellefaire's infant adoption program are charged at the time each service is rendered. Home study and placement costs are determined on a sliding scale according to your income. Adoption can sometimes be a costly process. However, there are a variety of ways to positively manage adoption expenses. Employee benefits, income tax credits, loans, and federal and state adoption assistance are just a few.
