At Last, a "Forever" Family. Every child deserves a loving home and a "forever" family. But countless children wait for such basic needs to be satisfied. Waiting children typically live in foster or group care homes. In most cases, waiting children's birth parents have permanently lost their parental rights. Adoption can provide waiting children with the love and security they need to grow and thrive.

Who are the children?

• Boys and girls from age two to 18
• Individual children or children waiting to be adopted together with one or more siblings
• Children who may or may not have special physical, emotional, educational or behavioral needs
• Children of all races

Do you know a waiting child?
You may already know — even live with — a waiting child. You may wish to adopt your foster child. Or perhaps you would like to pursue a kinship adoption, through which you adopt a relative's child. The Adoption Center at Bellefaire JCB can make it happen.

Who can adopt?
All kinds of adults can adopt a waiting child. You can be married, single or divorced, with or without children, a homeowner or renter, younger or retired. Your income and resources must be sufficient to meet your family's needs. Most important is your willingness to commit to a child.

Are there fees to adopt a waiting child?
Fees to adopt a waiting child are typically paid by county or state agencies that have custody of waiting children. However, there may be expenses related to the arrival of a child or children into your home. There are many resources available to help adoptive parents deal with the financial aspects of adopting. Employee benefits, income tax credits, loans, and federal and state adoption assistance are just a few.
