Bellefaire's After School Program targets children six to 12 years old who typically live in environments with chronic stressors, such as verbal/physical/sexual abuse, neglect, poverty, drug exposure, multiple moves, multiple school placements, and/or removal from their primary family.
Our fall program runs from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Children receive three hours of partial hospitalization in an environment that reduces problem behaviors, reinforces positive behaviors, increases self esteem, and teaches skills, including appropriate social interactions, anger management, appropriate expression of emotion, and self monitoring. Currently, we sponsor three groups with an additional group planned for the fall. Children are transported to the program from schools on Cleveland's east side and transported home. Some children obtain their own transportation or utilize their school's transportation.
Summer program hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Each day includes group counseling, therapeutic camp, outdoor play, and team interaction. Transportation is provided to and from children's homes. Some children are transported by parents or guardians.
