Sometimes things don’t go exactly as planned. We explored fertility treatments and were unsuccessful. The desire to be a parent and have a family was too strong to stop there. We made the decision to begin the adoption journey and can’t wait to find our baby to adopt and begin a family of our own. All children need to understand where they come from and Matt and I are comfortable sharing our child’s whole story with them. We are very open to discussing with a birth family how much involvement there will be.
Introduction
We are Matt and Christine and have been married for five years. Christine is an elementary school teacher and has loved every minute of it for 15 years. Matt is a graphic designer and has been creating for 18 years. We live in a suburb of Northeastern Ohio. Living near a big city gives us the opportunity to explore the sights and sounds of a variety of city neighborhoods. We also enjoy taking advantage of local parks and nature trails throughout the area. Most importantly, our family is a big part of our lives. We have the best of both worlds; Christine comes from a large family and Matt a small one. We are lucky to have family locally who we see often and we also get to travel around the country to see the rest. We hope the following information about us will give you a good idea about who we are and what we will have in store for a child who will enter into our lives.
How we met
We have known each other for the past seven years and have been married for five years. Friends introduced us to each other. Shortly after meeting, I (Christine) went out of town, for almost a month, for a family reunion and traveled to visit friends. Even though we had only seen each other twice before I left, there was something about Matt that made me keep thinking about him. Apparently, he felt the same because he kept calling his friend to ask if I had come back yet. Once I did return, I invited him to a party at my friend’s house and after that we spent quite a bit of time together. We were engaged within nine months and planned to marry the following year. He really did sweep me off my feet with his attentive, thoughtful and kind ways.
We both work and enjoy our chosen professions. Christine is a kindergarten teacher and has been teaching for almost 15 years. She can’t imagine doing anything else. She enjoys watching each of her students grow and blossom at their own pace. There is never a dull moment and she is thankful to be a part of her students’ lives. Matt is a graphic designer and enjoys creating something new everyday. He has been doing this for 18 years and has continually grown and adapted as technology has evolved. Graphic design is an ever-changing field and Matt enjoys the challenge.
Our interests
We have a variety of interests and hobbies, but any time we spend together is fantastic. The two of us really enjoy traveling and exploring new cities. We love history and discovering the past as well as other cultures. For our honeymoon, we drove across the country and spent time visiting minor and major league baseball parks. This was a great way to see the country and have the chance to really meet all types of people. It showed us how warm and wonderful people are. On our trip we saw the beautiful variety of landscapes our nation offers. Matt sure did have a great time capturing much of this with his photographic skills.
We love being near a big city and we take advantage of all the city has to offer. We regularly go to the museums (art, natural history, historical, botanical gardens, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame). We also enjoy the variety of cultures and ethnic foods our area offers. We can be found cheering on the local sports teams, as well as checking out art galleries and shops with our family and friends. In the summertime, you can find us at neighborhood street festivals and many of the wonderful parks throughout the city. We have a canoe and a kayak that are used, as often the weather will allow.
Our families
One of the most important things to us is our family. We can’t wait to be able to share this with our own child. Christine comes from a very large family. She is the youngest of 10 children and has been around kids all her life. Since she is a teacher and has the summer off, she enjoys hosting her nieces and nephews at “Camp Aunt Chris”. You never know what fun activities can happen: going to the zoo, the county fair, candy factory tours, playing cards, bowling, or mini-golf. The possibilities are endless! Uncle Matt has the ability to work from home often, so he gets to join in on the fun too. Matt’s family is a bit smaller. He is an only child, but is very close to his mom. He can also be found helping out in his mom’s hobby shop store. We spend as much time as we can with both of our families. All of our family is supportive of the adoption process and they can’t wait to shower more love on the child that comes to us.
We have our own little “family” as well, our two dogs, Libby and Dave. Matt has had them since they were puppies. They are both 12 years old now. They are very curious to say the least, but they do not get into trouble. They enjoy being outdoors and exploring the yard and what creatures come in and out. We have a big yard so they have a lot of room to run and play. They love to go for walks. We take them to the parks, down to the lake or just for a romp around the block. They enjoy it either way. They are very well behaved and are very good with all of our nieces and nephews.
We hope this brief bio gives you a good picture of us. Although there is no way for us to understand what you are going through, we would like you to know that we will be great parents to your child and we are very open to your involvement in the future. Thank you for looking at our story.
