Hague International Adoptive Parent Training
Bellefaire JCB has received Hague Accreditation as a primary provider
from the Council on Accreditation (COA). Click to learn more >>
The ratification of the Hague Treaty in April, 2008 mandates specific pre-placement training for all international adoptive parents.
In order to respond to the Hague parent training requirements Bellefaire JCB has developed a complete training experience for Ohio families.
Experienced trainers will provide this required training in a face to face small group setting. Small groups are the best way for adults to learn and meet other parents growing thru international adoption. Far better than the internet or individual reading attendees will be able to embrace the specialized and important issues that may have impacted their soon to be international adopted child and their family’s future.
For Registration and Fees Please Contact Karen Gillooly at 216.320.8589 or gilloolyk@bellefairejcb.org
Training is open to international adoption applicants from any agency who may be:
- at the beginning stage and need a adoption preparation training (sometimes referred to as pre-service training),
- who are waiting assignment of a child, and/or
- are updating to adopt another child.
To meet the need of each family this training is available in several formats. When completed each individual will receive from Bellefaire JCB a Hague International Adoptive Parent Training Certificate signed by a representative of Bellefaire along with a written description of the topics covered during training.
As required by Hague Regulations the training is independent to the home study, will occur prior to the adoptive family traveling to adopt a child, is no less than 10 hours in length and will cover topics specified by Hague Training Standards Regulation 96.48, and as required by ODJFS pursuant to OAC (Ohio Administrative Code) 5101:2-48-09. This training complies with the Hague Convention standards and topics for PREPARATION OF INTERNATIONAL ADOPTION HOME STUDIES.
