What hours are you open?

What is your tuition?
The tuition for the school year 2007-2008 is $875 per month for the full day preschool and kindergarten programs and $975 per month for the toddler program. There are no additional fees, except for some Kindergarten field trips.
At what age can my child start?
JDN has Toddler, Preschool, and Kindergarten programs for children 18 months to six years old.
How do I register my child?
Simply call the Director at 216/320-8489 for a personal tour of the school.
When do I register my child?
You may register any time of the year. However, spaces do fill up quickly and the best times to call are between December and February. June and July are also popular times to register at JDN.
What is your teacher: child ratio?
Our preschool groups have up to 10 children and one teacher. Our toddler group has 10 children and two teachers. In addition to our classroom teachers, we have two “floating” teachers and an Assistant Director. Therefore, built in to our program, we have three teachers who can substitute as needed. Thus, children will always have someone they know. If no teacher is out sick, they function as additional teachers in the classrooms. We also have several wonderful volunteers with regular hours in the classrooms.
What are the qualifications of your teachers?
Our teachers all have Bachelors or Masters Degrees in Early Childhood Education or a related field. We have a low teacher turnover rate. Our teachers have been with us an average of ten years.
Do you serve meals?
We serve a nutritious, kosher breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack from our on-premise kitchen. Children eat “family-style” with their teacher and friends in their classroom. The cost of meals is included in your fee.
Are you open in the summer?
JDN is a year-round program. We close for one and a half weeks in August. During the summer, we enjoy spending more time on our very large, beautiful playground, with our very own spray park.
Do you take field trips?
Our Kindergarteners take field trips once a month during the school year, and three times a week in the summer. Our Preschoolers do not take field trips. The JDN teachers and specialists offer a fun curriculum that is highly enriching, challenging and interesting. Field trips can be difficult for some young children, because the preschool child feels most comfortable and secure in their familiar environment.
Do you have specialists or enrichment programs?
We have two wonderful specialists that enhance our program. Our Music Specialist works once a week with each class. She comes to us from the Beck Center for the Arts. She uses singing, movement, orchestral instruments and children’s instruments. She is a masterful teacher. Our Naturalist offers an outstanding natural science program. She works with each class in their room and on our park-like playground, investigating the nature all around us — birds; seeds and nuts; animal tracks; weather; bugs; mammals and more – sparking the children’s curiosity.
Are you NAEYC accredited?
Yes, we are proud that since 1986, JDN has been accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the gold standard for developmentally appropriate early childhood education. Every three to five years we are re-accredited. The process involves a rigorous self-study, followed by a thorough in-person assessment by NAEYC validators.
