Serve as a primary direct service clinician to clients, their families and significant others as needed in the Lorain JOP or OP programs. Consultation with Lorain County Probation Officers, Lorain County
Children Service Workers, Bellefaire JCB staff, and other treatment
team members regarding referrals to Bellefaire for wraparound services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Consultation with Lorain County Probation Officers, Lorain County Children Service Workers, Bellefaire JCB staff, and other treatment team members regarding referrals to Bellefaire for wraparound services.
- Consult with professional staff at the school regarding treatment planning, progress, and ongoing needs in a timely and consistent manner. Also provide mental health-related training to teachers and other school personnel.
- Serve as a primary caseworker and/or counselor for clients referred to the program.
- The Counselor will provide: Diagnostic Assessment, Counseling/ Psychotherapy, and Community Support Program Services including, but not limited to:
- evaluations and assessments
- participation in the development of the client’s Individual Service Plan (ISP)
- crisis work – providing assistance and support in crisis situations
- support, including education and consultation for families and/or significant others regarding the clients’ mental illness
- individual interventions; symptom monitoring and self management of symptoms; assistance in increasing social support skills and networks
- coordination of necessary evaluations and assessments; coordination of all services identified on the client’s ISP
- necessary follow-up to determine if services have adequately met the needs of the client
- access to resources in the community
- Maintain a caseload and productivity levels as assigned by supervisor.
- Provide culturally competent clinical services, including but not necessarily limited to: biopsychosocial assessments, treatment plans and reviews, individual counseling, group counseling, family therapy, aftercare planning, and termination reports.
- Provide back-up to other program staff as needed.
- Maintain high quality and timely client records, reports, and billing data.
- Provide 24/7 on-call coverage on a rotational basis.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and on-going training.
- All required trainings, certifications and licensure must be kept current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the clinical record through the timely completion of assigned documentation in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
- Respect the privacy of clients and hold in confidence all information obtained during the client’s treatment. All client-related documents should be handled in accordance with Agency guidelines on confidential material.
- Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies and procedures.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Masters Degree in Social Work, or Counseling.
- Licensure: Valid Ohio LSW, LISW, LPC, or LPCC.
- Skills: Sensitivity in relating to persons of varying backgrounds and demonstrate ability to work with diverse groups of people possessing various strengths, aptitudes and abilities.
Ability to perform job responsibilities with a high degree of initiative and independent judgment.
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in using Agency computer systems and software as required to perform essential job functions. Command of the Spanish Language a plus.
Practical and creative problem solving skills.
- Experience: Culturally competent knowledge of diagnostic assessment, treatment planning, family systems, systems and methods in family therapy, group therapy, child psychotherapy, and adolescent psychotherapy. Experience with children, adolescents and families us helpful.
- Other: Knowledge of Juvenile Delinquency and the Juvenile Legal System. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets the underwriting criteria of the Agency’s insurance company.
