Giving Children a Strong Start
Jewish Day Nursery Early Childhood Education Center (JDN) provides exceptional, full-day, year-round programming for children ages six weeks to five years. Recognized with the prestigious Gold Medal rating—the highest distinction in Ohio’s Step Up to Quality program—JDN exemplifies educational excellence at every level.
A Nurturing Foundation for Learning
Rooted in Jewish education and welcoming children of all faiths, cultures and backgrounds, JDN provides nurturing early childhood education from six weeks through 5 years old. Our program supports each child’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development while building academic readiness, confidence, self-regulation, creativity, and a genuine love of learning.
Highly skilled educators provide attentive, responsive care in an environment where children feel safe, supported and encouraged to explore. Through rich learning experiences and meaningful relationships, children build a strong foundation for continued growth and discovery.
Building Social and Emotional Skills
JDN uses Conscious Discipline, an evidence-based approach that helps children develop social and emotional skills in a positive, supportive environment. Through consistent routines, classroom rituals and caring interactions, teachers help children learn to manage big feelings, solve problems, cooperate, and build healthy relationships.
Early Childhood Mental Health Support
For children who need additional support, JDN provides early childhood mental health services for children and families. Services may include developmental and behavioral assessments, referrals, counseling and individualized support.
Our director, Suzanne Appel, LISW-S, ECMHC, OIMHP-3, also provides coaching and training to JDN educators, giving teachers practical strategies to support children’s social and emotional development in the classroom. This collaborative approach helps ensure consistent, responsive support throughout the child’s day.
Jewish Education, Open to Everyone
JDN Early Childhood Education Center is rooted in Jewish education and welcomes children and families of all faiths, cultures, and backgrounds. Children learn about Jewish holidays, traditions, values, and the meaning behind them while also having opportunities to share and celebrate traditions from their own families and cultures. This creates a rich, inclusive environment where children develop curiosity, respect, empathy, and an appreciation for the diverse community around them.
